It is very important to attend control appointments as recommended by your doctor after the surgery. One should not be worried about the tampons and plaster placed around the nose after the surgery. These tampons are placed to prevent bleeding after the surgery and are removed after 2-4 days. Following that, plasters are removed after 7 days, and the patient can return to daily routine comfortably. Sutures at the tip of the nose are also removed along with the plaster. These procedures are not painful; hence, there is no need to worry. Although the duration of swelling and edema after the surgery varies from person to person, they usually disappear within 10 days. Implementing what your doctor states in the control appointments will both give you comfort and ensure a healthy recovery of your surgery result. While nearly 80% of the swelling goes down within 6 months, it takes about a year for the swelling and edema to completely disappear.
